Accessibility statement
People come to this site after a fire, a storm or a flood — often stressed, often on a phone. It has to work for everyone, including anyone using a screen reader, a keyboard, or a browser zoomed to 200%.
The standard I build to
This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the benchmark referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act guidance for web content. It was built from scratch with that target in mind rather than retrofitted afterwards.
What is already in place
- Keyboard access. Every link, button, form field and FAQ toggle can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a clearly visible focus ring.
- Skip to content. A "Skip to content" link appears as the first focusable item so keyboard users can jump past the navigation.
- Screen readers. Landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer), one H1 per page and a correct heading order; icons that carry no meaning are hidden from assistive technology; the menu button announces its expanded state.
- Text alternatives. Every meaningful image has descriptive alternative text.
- Colour and contrast. Body and heading text meet or exceed the 4.5:1 contrast ratio; no information is conveyed by colour alone.
- Reduced motion. If your system requests reduced motion, all animation is switched off and content is shown immediately.
- Works without JavaScript. If scripts fail or are blocked, all content still displays — nothing is hidden behind an animation.
- Zoom and small screens. The layout reflows down to a 320px-wide screen and up to 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling or clipped text.
- Forms. Every field has a persistent visible label tied to its input, required fields are marked in text, and errors are announced, not just coloured.
Known limitations
- The embedded Google map on the contact page is a third-party component whose accessibility I do not control. The same address is always published as plain text next to it, so no information is available only inside the map.
- The anti-spam check on the contact form is provided by Cloudflare Turnstile. It is designed to pass without interaction in most cases; if it ever blocks you, please phone or email instead — those routes always work.
If something does not work for you
Tell me and I will fix it — and I will help you with your enquiry directly in the meantime, so nothing is lost while a fix is made. Please describe the page and what happened; if you can, mention the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using.

Alternative ways to reach me
Every service on this site can be arranged by phone or email — you never have to use a web form to get a free consultation. If it is easier for you, a relative or advocate is welcome to contact me on your behalf. See the contact page or the terms of use.

The consultation and the property inspection are free. If I can't add value to your claim, I'll tell you straight — no pressure, no obligation.
